82nd Airborne notes...

I have this friend... who we all owe a great deal... as does the entire population of Holland....

My friend Phil... is a WWII verteran in the 82nd Airborne. On June 6th of this year he was back in Europe... for the 60th Anniversary of D-Day. This man is amazing. I am in awe of the stories he tells.

The close calls that he has had really makes you ponder the whole butterfly effect.

Tokens of their trip, Midnight (Phil), and his son Tracey brought a few things back for me: an 82nd Airborne hat with the All American logo on the front and the chapel n Ste. Mere Eglise on the back, a cricket( noise maker used by paratroopers), a coin from France highlighting the 60th anne.)then the best gift of them all... a small baggie of sand from Utah Beach.

I you dont know what Utah Beach is... go turn on the movie 'Saving Private Ryan' and watch as wave after wave of men storm the beach titled 'Omaha Beach' and then you will grasp what Utah Beach is..

I am still in shock of what I hold in my hand.

Thank you Phil... for all that you have done for your country not to mention the world.
